Iliana Zotou
Nulty
With a background in interior architecture and an MSc in Light and Lighting from University College London, Iliana is a multidisciplinary designer with an artistic, collaborative approach to lighting design. Her experience spans Europe and the Middle East, with an expanding portfolio across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia.
For Iliana, the art of lighting design lies in exploring the intricate relationship between architecture and light. She is particularly interested in the psychological and physiological effects of light, and how light can be used creatively to influence way people experience their surroundings. A passionate advocate for dark skies, she also champions a more considerate and sensitive approach to the night-time environment, balancing visual experience with the protection of darkness.
At Nulty, Iliana leads a large team of designers, working closely with clients and project teams to take schemes from concept through to completion. Recently completed projects include OUNASS at Mandarin Oriental, Dubai, Chedi Hegra in AlUla and Al Ain Museum in Abu Dhabi.
